Great storytelling connects and inspires communities.
That's the approach Josh Lamberty takes each day while crafting newscasts at WQAD. The Eden Prairie, Minnesota, native currently produces the 10 p.m. newscast during the week.
Josh attended Iowa State University and graduated with a degree in journalism, before beginning his career during the COVID-19 pandemic. He got his start as a MMJ before taking the reins as the weekend morning anchor/producer in 2022. During that time, he earned his FAA drone pilot certification, becoming the only News 8 MMJ (and now lone producer) with the designation. In fall 2023, Josh moved off-air into his current role as a producer. While it's a different path than many take, Josh feels he is in the best position to tell stories impacting an entire region. It also gives him a unique opportunity to coach, mentor and understand the challenges reporters and field crews face every day.
Josh is also an Eagle Scout. He believes many of those same ideals are critical to local journalism's success, too. Josh expects nothing but the best from himself, and holds those around him to the same high standards of excellence. You can read more about Josh's personal ethics code here.
Journalists see communities during both the best and worst times in life. Everyone has a story to share, and great storytelling brings them to life. Josh would be honored to tell yours.
